Passed!! Computer glitches and brush fires were not enough to derail my defense!

Advice to new grad students: do not cheap out on a home printer. It took 54:25.9 minutes to print my thesis draft last night.

Well that stinks. I forgot the quotes so:

'delete from table where date > YYYY-MM-DD'

became

'delete from table where date > 1996'

There went some of my thesis data

Took four tries to successfully boot my laptop this morning and my last thesis backup was in 2012. #PanicAttack #BackedUpNow #BackedUpAgain

The thought that keeps me sane after accidentally deleting code: it will take less time to write it the second time.

I don't think I could be more disappointed in the "professional" photography service UCSC hired for graduation. I'm out of focus in the hooding photos. The photos taken against the backdrop are misaligned so the edge of the backdrop is clearly visible and can't be edited out. And now, I purchased the "ceremony highlights" because there's a nice photo of my adviser together with all of the graduating students from our lab, and they failed to include it.

Spent father's day with my father, father-in-law, my wonderful husband/father of my baby, and about 200 other graduating students and their fathers (and family!)

One of my thesis writing difficulties is keeping notation clear, consistent and concise. I can do any two, but not all three apparently.

Someone took a bite out of my thesis. Not figuratively speaking.

I guess Nicki wants to be a collaborator.

During interview "sounds like you'd be a good fit for a data science position". I thought that was what I was interviewing for?
